Early Childhood Family Education

Staples-Motley School District offers a variety of early learning programs for children birth to entering kindergarten. Our programs are aligned with Minnesota’s early learning standards: Early Childhood Indicators of Progress (ECIPS). These ECIPS include physical and movement, language, literacy and communications, cognitive, mathematics, scientific thinking, social systems, approaches to learning, the arts, and social and emotional development.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a program for children birth to entering kindergarten and their guardians. ECFE classes allow parents/guardians and their parents to explore learning centers together, participate in circle time, share a snack, and break out into parent discussion and child enrichment groups. There are also ECFE events hosted throughout the year to offer one-time experiences for parents/guardians and children to share together such as “Touch-a-Truck” or “LuvBugs on a Bus.”

ECFE Classes and Events vary year to year, with the goal to serve the most families in our communities as possible within our available resources. ECFE is partially funded by the state of Minnesota, and often, one-time events are free. However, classes that meet regularly throughout a season typically charge a small per-class fee.
